THOUGHTS
As I've have been wandering through Matthew, I have noted some terse saying of Jesus:
"Begone Satan," as spoken to Satan during the temptations of Jesus, (Matthew 4:10);
"Repent," as the crowds followed Him as they had followed John the Baptist, (Matthew 4:17);
"Follow Me," calling His disciples to become fishers of men,(Matthew 4:19) and calling a tax collector away from his money, (Matthew 9:9) and calling a would-be disciple (Matthew 8:22);
"Hush, be still!" rebuking the wind and the sea, (Matthew 8:23-27 & Mark 4:39);
"Depart from Me," to the many who did not enter by the narrow gate (Matthew 7:23);
"Begone," to the demons before He sent them into the swine, (Matthew 9:24);
"Depart," spoken to the crowd in noisy disorder before He took the hand of the synagogue official's daughter so she might rise from the dead, (Matthew 9:24);
"Come to Me," to all who are weary and heavy-laden in need of rest, (Matthew 11:28);
"Come!" as said to Peter before he climbed out of the boat to walk on water, (Matthew 14:29).
These are such concise, simple, compelling words leaving us much to ponder. What will He say to me? I hope He says, "Well done!" (Matthew 25:21)
