THOUGHTS
May 1, 2020
This is the day as a child I would pick flowers,
fold paper doilies to hold them and attach a ribbon
to go hang on neighbors' doors in secret.
Yesterday, my little granddaughter knocked and ran
leaving a red rose on the doorstep,
lovely to the eye and sweet to smell!
I love to go drink my coffee on the porch
and listen to the birds
and ponder.

"dawn picnic to hear the first birdsong'
the act of rising in the early morning to watch the birds
or to go outside to appreciate nature."

Here's a revision of a May post from 2014
"A writer lives, at least, in a state of astonishment.
Beneath any feeling he has of the good or evil of the world
lies a deeper one of wonder at it all.
To transmit that feeling, he writes."
William Sansom
"Forget what your mama said!
When it comes to the things of the Spirit...
never talk unless your mouth is full!"
Beth Moore
"Open your mouth wide and I will fill it."
Psalm 81:10
Proverbs says that even a fool is thought to be wise if he keeps his mouth shut, but some of us can't keep our thoughts to ourselves and have to let it spill. Scripture also says that "out of the heart, the mouth speaks."
"Jacob's Prophecies Concerning His Sons
"Naphtali is a deer let loose;
He uses beautiful words."
Genesis 49:21
It matters a lot that your heart is full of the good stuff 'cause that is what will be on your lips or at your typing fingertips. Sometimes it is important to listen to your own conversation in your head, to proof-read your thoughts, so to speak.
"The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples,
That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens me morning by morning,
He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple."
Isaiah 50:4
One writer wrote, "I think, therefore I blog." Yep. I have a passion for expression. However, it takes me a bit to be awake enough to write after a long night of reading. After coffee, I think about chores, and sometimes even do them. Throw in a few dogs for chummy chaos, then I try to read Scripture and glean thoughts of others. There are days I leave the bed unmade and wear a bathrobe till late morning or put on my clothes inside out because of my morning blur. Yet, I come out of my haze by reading and writing. Lucky you! But I do so hope that I can encourage a weary one now and then.
