THOUGHTS

had the eyes no tears."

"The soul would have no rainbow
had the eyes no tears."
John Chaney
What makes me cry?
Music.
A bagpiper marching down the streets of Glasgow
in support of healthcare workers,
Demonstrators in Hong Kong singing a Christian song by the thousands,
Doctors and nurses singing a Christian song together from the roof of a hospital,
Italians singing while hanging off their balconies in solidarity,
My nephew and wife as they sing along to a Christian song
while on the road as long-haul truckers,
My Autistic granddaughter singing all the words to
"Let It Go," from Frozen in her high wavering vibrato,
My grandkids who sing and play while we sneak recordings,
American Idol contestants,
Country Music,
Blue Grass,
Hymns,
Violins,
Opera,
Opera,
Music.
Music is something that can come into our homes during our social distancing
bringing beauty that touches heartstrings.
Ponder God in His heaven
listening to a young shepherd boy
singing and playing his harp
while watching sheep.
David was isolated,
but he sang.
God smiled.
From lullabies to nursery rhymes, patriotic tunes to hymns, songs sung by slaves to, contemporary songs, the world has exploded with music. I've told of it before, but one of my cousin's forms of discipline when her children were little was to send them to their room until they could come out with a smile on their face and a song in their heart. Maybe God will let us come out of our rooms when this is true in our lives.
This may seem like a horrid pandemic, and it is, but God has promised to work all things for good for those who trust Him, even in the hard times. Perhaps from God's perspective, it is a wake-up call heard around the world, by preaching, by example, or by music.
Peter's sermon at Pentecost
"And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved."
Acts 2:21
