FELLOWSHIPPING WITH ONE ANOTHER
Somehow or other, most of our siblings have lived with us at one time or other, some for short periods and some longer. One time it was my husband's brother who was tired of his bar tending and alcohol and drug habits and came to live with us when our kids were young. He didn't take kindly to our great getting up mornings routine since he was used to life beginning after dark. Our morning nearly always included the same song, "Fellowshipping with one another as we walk in the light." (by Acapella) I'm sure he pulled the pillow over his head as we all sang along at the top of our voices as the bacon sizzled.
Pastors have to learn new ways
to proclaim the Gospel.
Yet, fellowship is sweet, even as we adjust to our new normal of internet fellowship. There is a little read book of the Bible, Haggai that's only two chapters long and has so many good things to say in it about God's fellowship. In my Bible it has the subtitle, "The Builders Encouraged."
Here's a readers condensed version.
"When the people heard the word of the prophet Haggai,
the leaders "with all the remnant of the people
obeyed the voice of the Lord their God...
And the people showed reverence for the Lord...
'I am with you,' declares the Lord."
(Haggai 1:12-13)
"'and all you people of the land take courage,' declares the Lord of hosts..
'My Spirit is abiding in your midst; do not fear!'
'and I will fill this house with glory,'
says the Lord of hosts.
'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,'
declares the Lord of hosts.
'The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,'
says the Lord of hosts,
'and I shall give peace,'
declares the Lord of hosts...
'for I have chosen you.'"
(Haggai 2:4-5, 7-9, 23)
The glory of the Lord is not confined to a building. During this pandemic, the Word of the Lord has spread over the internet like never before reaching many more people, and it will not return void. Take courage, practice obedience, show reverence. Accept peace.
He has chosen you.
