THOUGHTS

Quote from Vincent van Gogh
due to his masterpiece being stolen
this weekend.

Have you seen on the internet posts of those who
seek new ways for their children to pass
the time creatively during this quarantine?
Some tape geometric shapes on their fences,
and let the children fill it in with colored chalk
to make a beautiful design when
 the tape is ripped away?

Or have you seen the ones who put the blue tape
 on the window and let the children paint in the shapes?
When the tape is ripped off, it leaves the word
"HOPE."

Here's a quote from Colonel Brengle's book, "The Way of Holiness."

"A cathedral window seen from without is dull and meaningless; but enter, and the light of heaven streaming through it glorifies it with every beauty of form and color. Consecration to God for service may seem dull enough when seen from without,  but enter into that experience,
and the light of the Divine Love streaming through it shall glorify your life with a beauty and blessedness which are Heaven's own."

C.S. Lewis says,
"We do not want merely to see beauty.
We want to be united with the beauty,
to pass into it, to become part of it."

Here's one of my favorite poems I've shared before,
by John Donne, 1572-1631

"Batter my heart, three person-God, for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurp'd town to another due,
Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end;
Reason, your viceroy in me, one should defend,
But is captiv'd, and proves weak and untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain,
But am betroth'd unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me!"
