THOUGHTS

March 27, 2020

This duo is celebrating their 9th birthday today!
(old photo, but favorite)
There was a corona virus adaption:
a birthday parade of honking cars, confetti, sirens, posters,
even the throwing of toilet paper rolls-pure gold!
Such fun!

As we adapt to social isolation,
sometimes there comes a time of healthy spiritual isolation:

"A certain amount of social fellowship will
of course be his as he mingles
with religious persons
in regular activities of the church,
but true spiritual fellowship
will be hard to find."

Matthew 5:6
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst
for righteousness,
for they shall be filled."

Not maybe, but shall be filled;
not filled like a glass half-empty,
nor half-full,
but filled to the brim.

Here's what God had to say about His special son,

"Jesus also was baptized , and while He was praying, heaven was opened
and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove,
and a voice came out of heaven,
'Thou art My beloved Son,
in Thee I am well-pleased.'"

The Holy Spirit is from heaven,
given to the rest of us
to indwell us after Pentecost.
In the Upper Room,
self-quarantined,
He came;
 this time not as a dove,
but as flaming tongues of fire;
and they became bold in a day of persecution.

Excerpts from Colonel Brengle's "The Way of Holiness"

"The next thing to do is to come to Jesus for the blessing, with a true heart, holding back nothing, but giving your all to Him for time and eternity, that He may give His all to you...
The Lord offers us the biggest blessing this side of Heaven.  He offers us perfect cleansing from sin, perfect victory over the devil, and the Holy Spirit to dwell in our clean hearts to teach and guide and comfort us; but in exchange He asks us to give Him our little all."
