RAINY DAYS & MONDAYS
DON'T ALWAYS GET ME DOWN

MARCH 16, 2020

Don't let the gray skies fool you.  Last evening a burst of light lit up the new green on trees and fields with a glow almost as strong as the brightness of the sun ready to set.  For this rain we prayed, for this snow we hoped, to see us through the coming dry summer.

The germs are blowing in the wind.

As for the governor's proclamation of self-quarantine for anyone over sixty-five or with an underlying health condition, in this online world of communication we would have to totally unplug to become isolated.  Even Walmart is waiting with baited breath to lay my groceries at my feet.  As for me, a lady of a certain age, I quote, "loneliness, the pain of being alone; solitude, the glory of being alone."  May you find glory in your day, whether surrounded by family, or standing six feet apart wearing a mask, or isolated as if on a deserted island.  (If on a deserted island, I suggest you put a message in a bottle: "Help!  Need T.P.")

From "Streams in the Desert"

"Thou who are God's without reserve,
are in every state content,
for they will only want what He wills;
and desire to do for Him
whatever He desires them to do;
they strip themselves of everything,
and in this nakedness
find all things restored
are hundredfold."

I continue with Colonel Brengle's, "The Way of Holiness"

"2.  The Apostle John, in speaking of those who expect to see Jesus, and to be like Him in Heaven, says, "And everyone that hath this hope in Him, purifieth himself, even as He is pure.'  That is a lofty standard of purity, for there was no impurity in Jesus.  He allowed no unclean habits.  He indulged in no impure thoughts or desires.  He used no unkind words. He kept Himself pure in all things.  So we are to be pure in heart and in life, as He was."

We have learned in this "Whole New World," how vitally important hand washing is, kind of like a kindergarten refresher.  We must choose once and for all to commit full-heartedly to practice good preventative measures, such as hand washing.  But we must also actually choose to continually wash our hands to keep them pure and clean as a sanitizer can make them.  We must also be careful of where we go and who we are with.  This is a good analogy of those who desire to have a clean heart.
