Selection from 2015
I came upon this verse randomly. It reached out and grabbed me. It's my verse, and I'm sticking to it. Ezekiel is not my usual go-to book, but wha'd ya know, there it is.
"For behold, I am for you,
and I will turn to you..."
Ezekiel 36:9
"For behold," means pay attention, lookie-here. The Lord of the universe, the Lord of all creation, the Lord of all, the great "I AM" says, "I am for you." Moses only got the first part, "I AM," but we get it all. Thanks, Ezekiel. Did you need to hear that today? I'm going to keep it in my back pocket to be handy for when I need it. I think I can even memorize it, "I am for you."
God is not only our coach, and in us through His Holy Spirit as our comforter and guide, but He is also our cheerleader. He's never missed a game, not even a play. "I am for you." Win or lose, He is for us. Nothing can separate us from His love. Don't worry, He's got this. Besides, He also said, "I will turn to you." His face is turned to us. We have His attention. He's just like that, you know.
When I was a teenager, I met a couple with an adorable toddler. As we conversed, the jealous little guy grabbed his mother's face with his chubby hands on her cheeks and begged, "Talk only to me, mama! Only to me!" Well, God's face is already turned to us.
Sometimes God has us rake the leaves in a pile to burn; but sometimes it's just to find joy in, to play. Go ahead, jump into whatever pile God has had you gather today and know He's watching you, His face is turned to you.
