CHRISTMAS 2019

CAMELS

Did you know that there were camels in California?  They were brought to the top of the Grapevine fort in the late 1800's (It's a great place to stop and visit).  It didn't catch on, I'm afraid.  Other than animal parks and zoos, they are rather rare this side of the pond.  Unless you are crossing a desert, horses are so much more pleasant: they won't spit at you.

My grandson was waiting in the car for his dad to get coffee at 7/11 when he was little when he read a sigh and said to his mom, "Hey, that's a good deal!  You can buy Camels for only $2.75!"  I don't think camels parallel parked in front of the place where Jesus lay was an everyday occurrence.   The star guiding the Wise Men certainly was a once and only once upon a time in history.  No wonder Mary pondered these things in  her heart.  She had barely gotten over the shepherds and the angels.  Following starlight, makes me think how God knows exactly where we live and what we need.

"Stars can't shine without darkness."

"Why wish upon a star when you can pray to the One who created it."

"And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven,
and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever."
Daniel 12:3

"...and lo, the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them,
until it came and stood over where the Child was.
And when they saw the star,
they rejoiced exceedingly with joy."
Matthew 2:9-10
