Literally, Jesus is the most
down to earth
person who ever lived.
Don't you think He wants us to resemble Him as our Father?
The only way is to have the Holy Spirit breathe His new life in us--just like He did with Adam in the Garden--to be made new creatures in Christ, made in His image.
In John Wesley's "A Plain Account of Christian Perfection," he said, "In August following, I had a long conversation with Arvid Gradin, in Germany. After he had given me an account of his experience, I desired him to give me, in writing, a definition of 'the full assurance of faith,' which he did in the following words: 'Repose in the blood of Christ; a firm confidence in God, and persuasion of His favor; the highest tranquility, serenity, and peace of mind, with a deliverance from every fleshly desire, and a cessation of all, even inward sins.'"
"This was the first account I ever heard from any living man, of what I had before learned myself from the oracles of God, and had been praying for--with the little company of my friends--and expecting for several years."
Thus, when the Holy Spirit is pouring out His Spirit, He doesn't say, "Oh, that's enough. I don't think he could handle any more right now. I'll give him just enough to get by with." No, He fills us to the brim with His outpouring love once the carnal man has been put to death making room for Him in our hearts.
