"And if you call upon the Father,
who without respect of persons
judgeth according to every man's work,
pass the time of your sojourning here in fear."

I Peter 1:17

1.  "without respect of persons" God doesn't care about the color of your skin, your heritage, your income bracket.  He's only concerned with "if you call the Father."  So pick up the phone!

2.  Don't be confused: this verse is not saying that we are saved by works.  But the Father sees all and knows all.  He's concerned with obedience, as in the words of Jesus in John 14:23, "If anyone (see #1.) loves Me,  he will keep My word." Keeping His word, walking in obedience, results in works.  This is what will be judged.

3.  "sojourning here in fear"  I love the word sojourning here because it sounds like we are going on a trip.  I love going on a trip, dwelling in places temporarily, whether it's a tent or a five star hotel.  But this is a description of what the breath and brevity of our live is like.  So, spend it in awe.  That's how we fear God.
