TRYING SOMETHING NEW...

Since I will be having my c-surgery, cataract, not cesarean,
I will wander through I Peter when I recover.  The apostle can speak glorious things,
as well as give stern warnings.  It's worth a look anyway since all God's words are true.  But I will also see if this blog can be a go-around the one that has been blocked.  New eyes, new blog, new book of the Bible.

But here's a thought to hold onto...

"To those who reside as aliens..."
I Peter 1:1

Can you believe how NASA
has used tax dollars to look for aliens?
It makes me want to jump up and down,
waving my hands saying,
"Look over here!  We're over here!"
Aren't aliens often depicted as saying,
"Take me to your leader"?
As aliens we sure do have a Leader!

As the first century Christians who were scattered, and blessedly so since the Jewish temple was destroyed soon after as Christ  had told them it would be,  they had to learn to let go.  They became aliens.  They were the dandelion's fluffy seed flying away in the wind, scattered to plant in far away places.  Persecution can do that.  Their kingdom, as they finally understood from Christ, was not of this world.  That, however, did not keep them from becoming loyal citizens in His kingdom.  Aliens, the kind others thought odd, strange, were God's peculiar people who were different from the world.   But the citizenship is open.  Anyone can join, regardless of race, gender or former creed. Yet no one can keep one foot in this world, and the other in the spiritual realm.  Thus most would rather cling to power, position and property and persecute aliens, Christians, as they have to this day.

"Those who reside..." It is a temporary residence here at best.  We may find roots that go back a 1,000 years in our ancestry, but that does not mean we can keep from flying away when our time comes.  So letting go means learning to hold things of this world lightly and cling to God and His Word.  Don't forget, He is building our permanent residence in heaven where we will be aliens no longer.

"Some glad morning...I'll fly away."
